In July 1904, in the midst of the searing intensity of New York City, firemen from the FDNY answer an odd call. Inside a courteous fellows' club, they find individuals stuck to death in spite of the outrageous temperatures outside. Indications of a powerful occasion litter the scene, with unusual serenades in terminated dialects radiating from a phonograph. The main survivor is a lady clad in a suit of protection, grasping a secretive circle.
Quick forward to the current day, where we meet Callie Spengler, her sweetheart Gary Grooberson, and her youngsters Trevor and Phoebe. They've moved to the New York firehouse, proceeding with the tradition of the Ghostbusters. Confronting public backfire and dangers from City chairman Walter Peck, a long-term rival of the Ghostbusters, the group battles to keep up with their tasks.
In the mean time, Phoebe becomes friends with a phantom named Tune, who uncovers her lamentable past. Beam Stantz and Digital broadcast investigate reviled objects, driving them to obtain similar puzzling circle from a supporter at Beam's Mysterious Books. This circle holds a dim mystery from an earlier time.
Testing the sphere, Beam coincidentally harms the ecto-regulation unit, releasing a clairvoyant charge and jeopardizing the city. As pressures rise, Winston Zeddemore acquaints the Spenglers with the Paranormal Exploration Community, where Dr. Lars Pinfield endeavors to saddle Egon Spengler's innovations.
Trevor, Pinfield, and Fortunate Domingo find the circle's set of experiences and its association with a satanic god named Garraka. As they dig further, they understand that Garraka tries to get away from his jail and unleash ruin on the city.
Phoebe, controlled by Tune, unwittingly supports Garraka's delivery, diving the city into disorder. With the Ghostbusters' hardware seized and the city frozen by Garraka's power, the group faces their most prominent test yet.
Nadeem Razmaadi, enabled by his grandma's covering and his idle pyrokinetic capacities, joins the Ghostbusters in a final desperate attempt to stop Garraka.
In a climactic confrontation, the Ghostbusters go head to head against Garraka, equipped with recently discovered information and assurance. Phoebe's creativity and courage, joined with Nadeem's powers and Song's shift in perspective, reverse the situation of fight.
With Garraka crushed and the city defrosted, the Ghostbusters are hailed as legends again. Notwithstanding Peck's statements, they persuade him to help their objective, and Phoebe acknowledges Gary as her mentor.
As the group starts gathering together got away from phantoms, including old enemies like the Sewer Winged serpent and Slimer, they set out on another part of ghostbusting, joined as a family and prepared to confront anything extraordinary dangers come their direction.
